I thiiiink I'm gonna hold off rating it until the full work comes out, but I really like the start. I can just see the jam limitations coming in, and I'm pretty sure (going off the other games I assume being for classes) this is your first time writing as well? Most of the critiques are things that get solved with more time. The beginning goes on for a bit too long, the sprites disappear after a certain point, etc. Which like, I get it lmao. But there's enough there that I'm excited for the full release. or further release, at least, but you gotta keep making it.
I do want to talk about some of the stuff I liked! Personally I have no qualms with Naro being turned into a dog and being like "this rocks! no further qualms." like yeah dude (gender neutral) good for you. I feel bad for them getting shoved into the death game but they're a league player so like. Not too bad ;> I also love that they're nonbinary, and that grating build up of being misgendered repeatedly lmao. getting Mister'd or Sir'd enough times that you just reach this point of exhaustion. And of course your art rocks. I hope the sprites have emotional variation because I think they're all really charming. can't wait for more
Intriguing blend of furry isekai, severence, and lethal game show. The art was pretty cute and the characters had decent personalities. I wouldn't mind having that uniform for work.
I recognize that it's a WIP, but the start felt a bit rushed/forced. It does improve later on though. The MC's thoughts are quite jumpy, but I suppose that matches up with the ADHD...hmm...
Ventral was a VN that kept taking me by surprise. The interview process, the resulting changes, the setup, it was all a lovely start to a story. I loved the CGs and sprites, they were very expressive- the image of all of them stood in an elevator together was really good!- and the music and sound design was superb. It also felt to me like a story about being in a game jam, which was a fun touch! I'm looking forwards to seeing more of this as it releases.
I got a lot of thoughts. Since this seems like it's just an opening to a much larger story not a lot of the overall themes and broader ideas are really discussed on in any meaningful way. That being said there is a certain level of charm to the premise and art that made me enjoy it and keep reading. As someone (among others in this community) who enjoys the idea of being some kind of animal person, I was hooked upon this exploration of what that change would en-"tail". The tail-penis joke actually got me. I can see where this is going with the metaphor to a degree, but hope it will say something more nuanced than where I think it is headed. I do feel like there is something there to someone being turned into an animal person and enjoying that and exploring why that disconnect is there. I think you have something here, but you need a bit more time to work on the metaphor.
